An Turas with Waikikamukau
What's in a name you might ask. Well tonight, quite a lot!
An Turas (The Journey) are a four piece band who have been playing together since the late 1990s, which suggests a degree of progress and improvement. Each of the aforementioned qualities are successfully disguised beneath a veneer of what is loosely described as Irish music and associated genres. For those who enjoy listening to established and sometimes less well-known songs and tunes, this is a band to watch (listening to them is optional).
The only things that Waikikamukau (yes, if you come along you can ask) have in common with An Turas are a strange name and one of their members. An a cappela quartet from one of the top barbershop choruses in the country (no straw hats, promise) they sing a variety of songs old and not so old, but in arrangements you've probably never heard before.
