Harry Orme + Flotsam

Event date:
Tue, 07/02/2017 - 8:00pm

People Poems is the indie-folk solo project of Leeds based musician/songwriter Harry Orme. Under the People Poems name he has toured the UK and Europe, and supported artists across the folk/indie spectrum such as Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Big Thief, Emily Portman, Sam Sweeney & Pete Flood (Bellowhead), Ciaran Lavery, Luke Concanon (Nizlopi) and Adam Barnes

“Vocally, People Poems somewhat resemble a dream pairing of Antony Hegarty and Joanna Newsom… It’s powerful, soul-bearing stuff, a rewarding listen and possessed of an uncommon and individual beauty.” – Brendan Campbell, North Leeds Life

Flotsam is a folk/jazz quartet hailing from Leeds. The project started as an eclectic and eccentric collection of songs written by childhood friends Jake Whitehouse (guitar) and Robbie Pickering (bass). Following the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2016, the duo enlisted Leeds College of Music graduates Georgina Barr (vocals) and Joshua Smout (drums) to realise their music in a live context. Expect to hear charming whit and brooding introspection in equal measure as Flotsam introduce their original combination of (mostly) intentional sounds.

Suggested donations £3-£5. No one turned away for lack of funds.
